I have always loved living in Minnesota because we get all four seasons! The past year I’ve wanted to savor each season even more and have learned my desire behind that is it’s because it’s how God designed us to live. Whether that’s the food we’re eating or the activities we’re enjoying, I try to savor each season for what it is. I love trying new things and especially seasonal things because it gets us out of our comfort zones and sparks inspiration and growth. With this being our first spring season married and in our new city, we are excited for the warm weather and to explore and get out in our community.
Savoring each season feels more intentional and thoughtful rather than a “bucket list” and the pressures that can come with creating those. I love what Richly Rooted shared about savoring the season, “If you want to savor springtime, start by noticing the small changes that happen every day in nature. Focus on doing outdoor activities that will be harder to enjoy when the temperature heats up. Freshen up your home–and yourself–and bloom where you’re planted!”
Here’s a list of ways to savor springtime in all its gentle and beautiful glory:
- Go to the local farmers market
- Visit a greenhouse or flower farm
- Spring clean your home
- Line dry your laundry
- Read outside
- Scope out nearby parks and nature preserves
- Plant flower boxes or a garden
- Eat produce in season
- Taste test and find a favorite white or rose wine before summer
- Volunteer in your community
- Explore a new bike trail
- Practice yoga outside on a cool, crisp day
I hope this inspires you to enjoy the season you’re in or try something new to appreciate it even more! How do you plan to enjoy Spring?
“Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” Hosea 6:3
