Classic Snickerdoodle Cookie Recipe

Soft, chewy, buttery, cinnamony goodness! Snickerdoodle cookies are a favorite of mine, and they became an even bigger favorite of mine after this recipe. My mom found this recipe in Country Living magazine and they were so easy, and a huge hit with my family. If you want to bake the perfect fall treat (or really anytime of year), make these classic snickerdoodle cookies.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 3 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup + 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

How to Make Snickerdoodle Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and 2 tsp cinnamon.
  3. Beat butter, brown sugar, and 1 cup sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, 1-2 minutes. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time. Beat in vanilla. Reduce mixer speed to low, and gradually add flour mixture until fully incorporated.
  4. Combine remaining 1/4 cup sugar and teaspoon cinnamon in a bowl. Roll dough into 1 3/4 inch balls and coat in cinnamon sugar mix and place on baking sheet.
  5. Bake until lightly brown, 10-12 minutes. Transfer to wire rack to cool. Enjoy!
