Savoring the autumn season fully over here! Are you? There are so many things to love about the fall season – fashion, cooler temperatures, soups, and the changing leaves. Another big one for me is cozy beverages. There is something so comforting about a warm mug in your hands. If you haven’t yet, check out my fall coffee week recipes here. This one was a follower favorite. Today, I’m excited to share another quintessential fall beverage, apple cider.
Let’s make slow cooker apple cider from scratch!
With minimal ingredients and easy directions, this recipe will be a breeze. Made with fresh apples of your choice, and a handful of autumn spices, this apple cider is refreshing and light. I love that I know exactly what is in it. Way better tasting than store-bought, in my opinion!
Ingredients You Need
- 10-15 apples of your choice
- 4 mandarins or 2 oranges peeled and sectioned
- 1 tablespoon ground cloves
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
- Water – I guessed and think I did around 7-8 cups. I would recommend doing 15-20 cups so it makes more!
- 1/2 to 1 cup brown sugar
How to Make Apple Cider in a Crockpot
1. Cut up apples and add all ingredients and seasonings to crockpot
2. Set crockpot to high for 4 hours
3. Mash apples and oranges against the side of the pot with a large wooden spoon. It should look like this:
4. Cover, turn crockpot to low and simmer for 1 hour
5. Strain apple peels and solids from cider using a strainer, pressing solids against the strainer to release the juices
6. Throw the solids away
7. I put all of the cider in two mason jars for easy storing. Serve cider warm or chilled. Enjoy!
