White Chocolate Peppermint Mocha

November 28, 2021 in Coffee

‘Tis the season! Peppermint flavor screams Christmas time, and I personally love white chocolate so I thought why not recreate this festive holiday coffee drink at home?

Let’s make a homemade white chocolate peppermint mocha!

In this post, you will learn how to make white chocolate sauce and peppermint syrup – both are very simple and easy. This recipe can easily be made with store bought sauce/syrup (I’ve linked a few good alternative at the bottom of this post) as well, but I always think it’s more fun to make them from scratch, and that way, no matter what you’re making, you know exactly what’s in it.

Another point I want to make is that you can absolutely make this without espresso/coffee if you’re not a fan. It would still be a fun, festive drink!

I’ll start by walking you through how to make the syrups and then how to combine them to make your mocha!

How to make white chocolate sauce:

  • 1 cup half & half or whole milk
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Add all ingredients to a medium saucepan. Cook over low heat until sugar is dissolved and white chocolate chips are completely melted – keep an eye on this and stir constantly, this will burn easily. Store in an airtight container in refrigerator for up to a week.

How to make peppermint coffee syrup:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract (I did a splash more for good measure and I’m glad I did!)

Bring water and sugar to a boil in a saucepan. Reduce heat to medium; stir 4 to 5 minutes. Add peppermint extract and remove from heat. Cool syrup for 5 minutes; pour into glass jar with tight-fitting lid. Store in refrigerator for up to two weeks.

  • 2 tablespoons white chocolate sauce
  • 1 tablespoon peppermint syrup
  • 1 shot of espresso (could also use strong brewed coffee, or neither! Would still be wonderful without the coffee if you’re not a fan)
  • Frothed milk of choice
