Life Update: I’m Pursuing Full-Time Freelancing!

I am delighted to share that I am, as of two-ish weeks ago, a full-time freelancer! If you came here from Instagram, you are here for more details and you’re about to get just that. If you’re not from IG, I shared a life update with my IG community (follow me there for daily life!) about this career change. Either way, I’m SO happy you’re here!

A little back story – I have spent my post-grad career (graduated college in 2016) working in corporate marketing in various roles, as a social media director for 4 years, and have been content creating in this space off and on since 2018. That brings us to 2022!

Why Freelancing?

The Lord surfaced this adventure on my heart a few months ago when I was having a conversation with a friend about helping her out with one of her clients who needed social media help. I wrestled with it for awhile, and thought it could be an opportunity down the road to be able to stay home with our (God-willing) children. I had been praying for an answer to that desire for so long, and freelancing/owning my own social media marketing business never crossed my mind. If you know me, being an entrepreneur is really not in my personality type. HA! What I have learned is that God can completely transform your heart when you surrender and trust Him with all that you have.

Not only has it allowed me to visualize a future where I’m able to be around our children, but a present reality where I am using what I’ve learned the last 6 years in confidence, I’m able to work-from-home full-time, and have freedom and flexibility in my schedule.

Fast forward to the beginning of April: One door closed, and I was given a chance at this new beginning of freelancing. It may not have been my timing, but I was at a complete crossroads abruptly and decided to take a leap of faith. I have been loving it so far, and seeing great success. And most importantly, truly feel this is where the Lord wants me to be, and am using my gifts daily to serve my clients with my skills and expertise, and connect with them on a personal level as well. All glory to God!

What is Freelance Work?

Essentially, a company or entity will hire me to work independently of their business if they are looking for social media or marketing services or virtual assistance. I operate as an LLC and specific marketing services tailored to each client, and work on a contract basis. Want to know the coolest part? My clients so far are all Christian-based or Christian companies! OK God!! I guess that can be my undeclared niche. 😉

I am truly so thankful. So so thankful. For the ability and freedom to have a relationship with Jesus, for His firm foundation, for the support of my husband and family and friends, and for my clients who have already entrusted me on this journey.

What to expect from me in this space going forward:

I am looking forward to continuing this space as is! Not only will nothing change, but I am working on becoming more organized and strategic (for my sanity) behind the scenes, which will only result in better, more intentional content on your end. I also have some fun goals for this year such as starting an email newsletter. I also plan to gauge how much entrepreneur content you all would like to see and incorporate that in some capacity, so please share!
