How to Make Homemade Oat Milk
I knew there had to be a way to homemade oat milk at home! I can’t help but share the love – follow along for my easy recipe because I am so happy about this discovery. It is so creamy, truly tastes homemade. There is nothing better than enjoying something you created with your own hands, and that is more affordable, too.
The Benefits of Homemade Oat Milk:
It is simple, has minimal ingredients (no additives like store-bought), and tastes absolutely delicious! I mostly use oat milk for at-home lattes. It could also be used in baking, smoothies, and more. The best part about this recipe is that it takes 5 minutes tops from start to finish. How easy!!
Oat Milk Ingredients:
Here’s the short list of what you will need!
- A blender – I use this one for everything.
- Cheesecloth – Grab this awesome pack!
- Two large bowls – I love this pack because of the pouring spout.
- Mason jars for storing the milk. I also love this pitcher for storage.
- Old fashioned oats
- Water
- A sweetener of your choice – agave, maple syrup or dates
- Salt
- Vanilla extract
Directions to make one mason jar full of oat milk (most weeks I will double this recipe and that makes 2!):
- Add the following amounts all into your blender: 1 cup of oats, 4 cups of cold water, pinch of salt, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 2 tbsp sweetener of choice or 2 dates
- Blend for 4 minutes (no longer!)
- Stain two times through cheese cloth
- Pour into mason jar!
- Store in fridge for up to 1.5 weeks
And that’s it! What a joy and gift it is to make things from scratch and right in my own kitchen. Let me know in the comments if you try it!
