Today, I’m taking you through my fall closet! Fall fashion is my favorite, hands down. Winter is a close second because of the cozy sweaters and jackets and tones for both seasons. I love finding a few new pieces every year to add to my closet such as a new sweater in a color I don’t have or a new style, same with boots. The thing I love most about fall, and a simple/capsule wardrobe in general, is the ability to mix and match what you already own to make some super cute outfits.
Let’s get to it! Here are my fall capsule wardrobe staples:
Of course, sweaters come first.
Everyone needs a cozy, comfortable crewneck sweater, and in several colors. I like them each to be slightly different styles but all classic and basic. Sweaters are so versatile and can be dressed up or down. My favorite is with is with jeans and booties or a pair of straight jeans and sneakers.
Can’t forget the cardigans!
Cardigans are definitely right after if not tied with sweaters for most-worn piece in the fall. They are perfect to layer with basic t-shirts, and bodysuits. You can achieve so many different looks simply by swapping around different cardigans with a few different jean styles and shoes. I recommend having 2-3 go-to’s for the Fall season and maybe 1-2 heavier ones on top of that for Winter.
Fall & Flannels…the perfect pair
I’m such a flannel girl. I know they’re not for everyone, but I think they are so cozy and cute. I wear them for a variety of occasions. If I want to be more casual, but still put together and festive. I also love a good neutral flannel, and layering it under a jean jacket or a vest. Fall is when I spend a lot of time hunting with my husband and family so I also have built up my flannel collection and look for a variety of styles because some are for out in the woods and some are for everyday wear. I randomly will find a good flannel at Costco too or in the men’s section if I want a more oversized. I liked this one and this one from the men’s this year so far.
Love a good jacket (or five).
I wear a variety of jackets in the fall time, and I love how many styles there are! A realistic staple for me is this down jacket for walks, hikes and running errands. Shackets, quilted jackets, barn coats, the list goes on.
All the denim.
Black denim is my favorite in the fall. I picked up these black straight jeans to kick off the season and I can’t stop wearing them. I love dark, skinny denim and lighter, distressed denim as well.
A fun dress if your heart desires.
So fun to dress up and go to the apple orchard with the girls or the winery for a date night in a comfortable fall dress!
Boots.
My Blundstones are definitely my most-worn boot in the fall/winter. They fit my casual style perfectly, but I also love the caramel and taupe tones in heeled boots to pair with other outfits.
Extra Extra!
Carhartt hats are my most-worn accessory in the fall hands down. I also love other plain beanies, gold jewelry and a good pair of boot socks. I also love a midi skirt and pairing it with a lightweight sweater and sneakers, I have this one in black.
