9 Winter Outerwear Must-Haves for Women
Cold winter climates call for appropriate winter outerwear. Curating your winter outerwear must-haves is key so you can keep coming back to them year after year!
Cold weather clothing: Where do I start?
I’m going to walk you through nine staples for your winter closet, and good quality pieces for each of them. I always recommend taking a look at your lifestyle and how you will be spending your winter months, to help determine what type of outerwear you will need – these 9 basics will get you off to a beautiful start with your winter outerwear wardrobe.
Winter Clothing Essentials:
Winter coats and jackets
I love a classic, long black parka for day to day, adventures and more. I also enjoy having a dressier overcoat in my closet for special occasions.
Base layer leggings
If you like to spend time outdoors, these are a must! Layer them under your everyday jeans for a walk or your snow pants for the slopes.
Beanies
My go-to is a black Carhartt beanie, and I also love this cream knit beanie for a more stylish look.
Wool socks
Another must-have for outerwear. This brand has never let me down!
Winter boots
These boots are great for snow and outdoor activities (I also wear them a lot hunting in the fall – great for the outdoorsy gal). My feet have never gotten cold in them because they are insulated and also have ice grips on the bottom! Blundstones are another great option for outdoor hikes and walks in the winter and are more stylish, I’ve had mine for years. These Sorel boots also look stylish and I’ve heard nothing but fantastic reviews.
Winter scarf and neck gaiter
A cozy scarf for casual outfits is essential, and a neck gaiter for the really cold days is also equally essential!
Snow pants
The key is snow pants that aren’t too puffy! These have great reviews at an affordable price. Other winter pants I recommend: these Carhartt work leggings, and these flattering rain pants. Base layer leggings work under all of these too!
Mittens
A warm pair of mittens is so important! (I don’t have any glove recommendations if you’re a glove gal!) These two pairs of mittens are good quality, and will last: Carhartt, and Stormy Kromer.
